At the end of this activity, students should be able to: – know why some substances conduct an electric current in the molten state or in aqueous solutions – know what electrolytes are – explain how to distinguish between an electrolyte and a non-electrolyte – give examples of electrical conductors – determine which ions are present in a molten salt – specify which ions are present in a solution of an electrolyte.
