Description
At the end of this activity, students should be able to: – draw the heating curve and cooling curve for a substance and describe them in detail – show the changes in volume and density undergone by most substances during heating or cooling – explain the concept of thermal expansion of bodies and what causes it – describe the changes in the volume and density of water in the three basic states of matter, and explain why ice has a lower density than liquid water – give examples of how the knowledge of thermal expansion of bodies is applied.
