Description
At the end of this activity, students should be able to: – define acidic and alkaline buffers – describe quantitatively how buffers work – calculate the pH of a buffer solution – calculate the pH changes resulting from the addition of strong acids/bases to buffer solutions – determine the pH range of a buffer based on Ka and Kb constants – calculate the amounts of acid/base and salt required to prepare a buffer solution of specified pH.
