Description
At the end of this activity, students should be able to: – represent the electron configuration of the elements of Group 17 – explain the formation of halogen molecules – compare the solubility of halogens in water and in hexane and give reasons for the differences – describe the trends in the melting points and boiling points in Group 17 – describe the relationship between the atomic structure and the physical properties of the elements – mention the uses of halogens and their compounds.
